eScooter rider breaks leg in late night incident

A WOMAN, 25, has broken her leg in a nasty eScooter incident in the Darwin CBD on Monday night.

A WOMAN, 25, has broken her leg in a nasty eScooter incident in the Darwin CBD on Monday night.

St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the woman had a badly broken leg after the incident.

“A 25-year-old female was transported to hospital at approximately 2.15am this morning with an expected broken lower leg,” she said.

“The patient had fallen from an eScooter in Dashwood Place, Darwin.”

It comes after the NT News revealed most eScooter incidents happened on weekends between 7pm and 3am.

More than 85 per cent of incidents happened during those hours, with 24 of the 30 injuries occurring from Thursday to Sunday.

Neuron is also working on using data to detect if riders are riding dangerously and warning or suspending repeat offenders.

Voice guidance, voice-activated emergency dial and geofence speed restrictions are also measures being considered and implemented in Darwin’s Neuron service.
