POLICE have attempted to catch a driver caught doing a burnout in front of officers in the Alice Springs CBD.
Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said about 8.40pm on Wednesday police patrols reported a green Ford sedan driving dangerously in the CBD, with pedestrians in the area.
“The vehicle was also going through red light,” he said.

“The vehicle also conducted a burnout in front of a police vehicle. An attempt to pull the vehicle over resulted in the vehicle not stopping and due to the manner of driving was not pursued.”
The car was later found abandoned on the outskirts of Alice Springs. Six people were in the car and later, but police were unable to identify who was driving at the time.

“The vehicle has been seized under the anti-hooning legislation and investigations are continuing,” he said.
