The Northern Territory’s newest Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics Centre has officially opened at Dripstone Middle School.
Delivered by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, on behalf of the Department of Education, the $2m centre was designed and built to provide a modern learning and teaching environment that supports enquiry-based learning, collaborative peer learning and innovative technology for year 7 through to year 9.
The significant investment saw a mix of upgrades to existing facilities and the construction of new areas to provide contemporary and high quality educational infrastructure that meets the needs of students, teachers and the school community.
The brand new state-of-the-art STEAM Centre boasts built-for-purpose classrooms, a maker space, green room, robotics lab and an outdoor cultural learning space.
The new centre will support high-quality teaching and learning across each discipline, inspiring the future generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and artists.
The construction of the new STEAM Centre sets the pathway for students to develop skills they need for employment opportunities now and into the future, as well as building the Territory workforce in each of these critical areas.
The construction of the STEAM Centre was completed by local contractor Maxcon and the design was collaborated with the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics using the services of professional design consultant, Hames Sharley.
