A STOLEN taxi ended up with a woman in hospital after it was found crashed into a pole.
About 5.30am NT police received a report that a taxi driver had been assaulted and had his taxi stolen in Coconut Grove.
Using taxi tracking technology, police found the vehicle and engaged in a pursuit along Dick Ward Dr however lost sight of the car.
A short time later, police located the taxi which had struck a pole and run off the embankment on Dick Ward Drive near Douglas Street, Ludmilla.
A woman was located underneath the vehicle with head injuries and was removed just before the car burst into flames. The woman was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was declared and the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Strike Force Trident are investigating.
