A FANNIE BAY landmark is on its way out.
Work has begun on the demolition of the old Sports House in Fannie Bay.
The Government said yesterday 70 “infill” houses will be built on the site of the facility which was once home to a number of Territory sporting organisations.
Lands and Planning Minister David Tollner said the Government had plans for up to 2700 “infill” houses.

“This site has easy access to the beach, open space and shops and is the perfect spot for a residential development,” Minister Tollner said.
“We’re determined to make housing more affordable for Territorians and have so far identified around 70 ‘urban infill’ sites such as the Sports House.
“These sites are set to provide up to 2,700 new homes and will ease the pressure on house prices and rents.”
The 1.46 hectare Sports House site was rezoned to allow medium density residential development last year and the Land Development Corporation has already short-listed potential development partners for the site.
