Thousands of people walked through the Katherine Showground gates to enjoy a dagwood dog and show ride over the weekend.

MORE than 10,000 people walked through the Katherine Showground gates to enjoy a dagwood dog and show ride.
The Katherine Show and Rodeo was the first show to be held in the NT after the shows at Alice Springs and Tennant Creek were cancelled due to Covid-19.
Katherine Show president Cathy Highet said the five day show and campdraft and rodeo was a success.
“We had a quite a big turn out on the Friday and Saturday was about average,” she said.
“For me one of the biggest highlight was seeing people back there enjoying the Show.”

She said honorary life memberships were given to long-term volunteers Ian and Deb Young, who have been involved in the poultry section. She said it was a milestone to just put the show on, with lots of planning put into adhering to Covid-19 requirements.
She said the number of stallholders present was smaller than pervious years due to some being unable to travel due to Covid-19 restrictions.
