New NT Covid cases down to 164

New Covid cases in the NT have dropped below 200, with total active cases hovering around 1500.

The Territory’s new Covid case numbers have dipped below 200, with 164 reported on Sunday.

Of these, 141 were positive from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 114 cases recorded in the Top End region, 11 in Central Australia, five in East Arnhem, 16 in the Big Rivers region, and 18 are under investigation.

There are currently 15 patients in hospital, with four people requiring oxygen. There are no patients in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 1578.

UPDATE 9AM FRIDAY 18 MARCH: THE number of patients in Territory hospitals with Covid has continued its steady decline as new cases remain above 200.

There were 258 new cases in the NT with 224 being positive cases recorded from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 179 cases recorded in the Top End region, 21 in Central Australia, five in East Arnhem, 22 in the Big Rivers region and five in the Barkly region.

There are also 26 new cases under investigation.

There are currently 21 patients in hospital, with five patients requiring oxygen and one person in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 1527.

UPDATE 9AM THURSDAY 17 MARCH: NEW Covid cases have remained above 200 for another day as the number of hospitalisations continue their steady decline.

In total there were 241 new cases with 217 being positive cases recorded from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 166 cases recorded in the Top End region, 27 in Central Australia, five in East Arnhem, 14 in the Big Rivers region, two in the Barkly region.

A further 27 are still under investigation.

There are currently 23 people in hospital, with four patients requiring oxygen and two patients in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 1589.

UPDATE 11AM WEDNESDAY 16 MARCH: THE number of hospitalisations of patients with Covid have dropped once again as case numbers remain in the low hundreds.

There were 170 cases recorded in the Top End region, 27 in Central Australia, six in East Arnhem, 12 in the Big Rivers region and seven in the Barkly region.

A further 29 cases are currently under investigation.

There are currently 24 people in hospital with four patients requiring oxygen while two people are in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 1604.

UPDATE 11AM TUESDAY 15 MARCH: HOSPITALISATIONS due to Covid have risen slightly, as the case numbers remain steady across the Territory.

295 new cases were reported in the 24 hours to Monday night, up from 198 recorded in the previous reporting time.

There were 31 patients in hospital with the infection, and seven remain requiring oxygen.

There are still two in ICU.

The active number of cases is slightly lower than yesterday with 1664.

Of the new cases, 220 were in the Top End, 33 were in Central Australia, 12 were in East Arnhem, 13 in the Big Rivers region, one in the Barkly region and 26 are under investigation.

UPDATE 11AM MONDAY 14 MARCH: Covid cases have stayed below 200, with 198 reported on Monday.

176 of these positive cases came from rapid antigen tests.

There remains 26 patients in hospital, with seven of these requiring oxygen and two people are still in ICU.

124 cases were recorded in the Top End region, 22 in Central Australia, five in East Arnhem, 16 in Big Rivers and 31 are still under investigation.

The number of active cases has fallen again to 1776.

UPDATE 9AM SUNDAY 13 MARCH: THERE were 151 new Covid cases recorded overnight in the Territory.

It represents a decrease of 100 on yesterday.

Hospitalisations were on the rise again, with 26 people in hospital compared to 23 yesterday.

One extra person is in ICU and seven patients are requiring oxygen.

The number of active cases is current 1817.

Of the cases recorded, 105 were in the Top End region, 17 in Central Australia, three were in East Arnhem, seven in the Big Rivers and 19 are under investigation.

UPDATE 9AM SATURDAY 12 MARCH: THE Northern Territory has reported 259 cases of Covid-19 on Saturday.

And in encouraging news, there has been another fall in hospitalisations, to 23, from 29 on Friday.

There were three patients in hospital requiring oxygen, down from six on Friday.

There is one patient in intensive care.

There were 166 cases recorded in the Top End region, 34 in Central Australia, three in East Arnhem, 15 in the Big Rivers region, three in the Barkly region and 38 are under investigation.

UPDATE NOON FRIDAY 11th MARCH: A MAN aged in his 60s has died of Covid-19 on Friday, marking the Territory’s 31st death since the pandemic began.

The man, who had underlying health conditions and was from an East Arnhem remote community, died at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

There were 273 new cases of the virus reported in the NT on Friday.

There are 29 patients in hospital, six of whom were requiring oxygen.

There is one patient in intensive care.

UPDATE NOON THURS 10th MARCH: ANOTHER death has been recorded in the NT, with an additional 326 cases recorded.

A man in his 60s has died with the infection.

Of those new cases 289 were reported from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 188 cases recorded in the Top End region, 23 in Central Australia, 13 in East Arnhem, 17 in the Big Rivers region, six in the Barkly region and 79 currently under investigation.

There are currently 33 people in hospital with five patients requiring oxygen and two people in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 2356.

UPDATE NOON TUES 9th MARCH: THE Territory’s new Covid numbers continue to drop, with just 205 new cases recorded in the jurisdiction.

Of those new cases 170 were reported from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 131 cases recorded in the Top End region, 34 in Central Australia, six in East Arnhem, 24 in the Big Rivers region, eight in the Barkly region and two currently under investigation.

There are currently 33 people in hospital with eight patients requiring oxygen and one person in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 2643.

UPDATE NOON TUES 8th MARCH: THE Northern Territory on Tuesday recorded its 30th death since the pandemic began.

A statement from Secure NT said a man in his 60s with underlying health conditions died at the Royal Darwin Hospital. The statement did not say when the man died.

There were 437 new cases reported on Tuesday.

There were 277 cases recorded in the Top End region, 54 in Central Australia, 4 in East Arnhem, 66 in the Big Rivers region, 18 in the Barkly region and 18 are under investigation.

There were 45 patients hospitalised with the virus, 12 of whom needed oxygen.

One person was in intensive care.

There were 3015 active cases as of 8pm Monday evening.

UPDATE NOON MON 7th MARCH: THE Territory has recorded another death from Covid-19. The man in his 60s passed while in Royal Darwin Hospital taking the NT’s Covid-19 death toll to 29 people since December 2nd 2021. The Secure NT release from Chief Minister Michael Gunner’s office did not include when the man passed.

There are currently 47 patients in Territory hospitals, with 14 patients requiring oxygen. While there are three patients in ICU, up by one from Sunday’s figures.

While the number of deaths continue to rise, only 235 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. Of these, 202 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

There were 141 cases recorded in the Top End region, 36 in Central Australia, 10 in East Arnhem, 32 in the Big Rivers region, 5 in the Barkly region and 11 are under investigation.

The number of active cases in the NT is 3,161.

EARLIER 9AM MON 7th MARCH: TERRITORY children aged five to 11 are now eligible to receive their second dose of the Covid vaccine.

More than 13,500 paediatric vaccinations have been administered across the Territory so far, with over 55 per cent of children having received their first dose.

NT Health have been administering paediatric vaccinations in NT health clinics, at schools and in remote communities.

Meanwhile, 88 per cent of Territorians aged 12 to 15 have received their first dose of the vaccine, while over 76 per cent have received their second.

In remote NT clinics, 89 per cent of patients over the age of five have received their first vaccine, while 75 per cent have received their second and 42 per cent had their booster.

Over 100,000 booster vaccinations have now been administered across the Territory.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles said the Territory had “led the nation” with its vaccination rollout. “If your child received their first dose before school started, it’s now time to ensure they receive their second before the end of term one,” Minister Fyles said.

Territory’s Covid cases continue to drop

THE Territory’s reported Covid cases continues to drop, with 231 new cases recorded.

The cases were in the 24 hours to 8pm on March 5.

Of these, 197 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test.

There were 136 cases recorded in the Top End region, 42 in Central Australia, 10 in East Arnhem, 21 in the Big Rivers region, 8 in the Barkly region and 14 are under investigation.

There are currently 54 patients in hospital, with 12 requiring oxygen.

There are two patients in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 3322.
