PEOPLE arriving in the NT from COVID-19 hotspot areas will no longer have to quarantine for a full 14 days if they spent time outside the hotspot immediately before entering the NT.

The Department of Chief Minister issued an alert on Monday afternoon stating there have been several changes to the Chief Health Officer’s directions for hotspot arrivals.

In one change, the way hotspot arrivals’ quarantine periods are calculated has been altered so the amount of time someone spent outside a hotspot immediately before entering the NT is deducted from the standard 14-day period.

The change came into effect at 12pm today.

The Department stated the new way of calculating quarantine would minimise the impact of quarantine on individuals while continuing to safeguard the community from the spread of COVID-19.

In another change, any unaccompanied children under 18 who arrive from a hotspot will no longer be allowed to spend their 14-day quarantine at home and will instead have to go into mandatory quarantine at a supervised facility.
