A CEMENT mixer caused havoc in Darwin’s northern suburbs today, rolling over twice after failing to navigate a roundabout at the intersection of Lee Point Road and Asche Street.
A tow truck driver was taken to hospital after the winch wasn’t attached properly, which caused the truck to roll for the second time.
The driver, who was in the cement truck when it rolled the second time, sustained injuries to his head.
The cement truck, which the NT News understands weighed about 27 tonne, initially rolled at the roundabout about 10.15am, with inbound traffic reduced to one lane.
Youngsters saw the bright side however, enjoying the novelty of such a bizarre road incident, riding around the chaos to check it out as they waited for the scene to be cleared.
