INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day is being celebrated in a uniquely Territory fashion with NT Field and Game hosting their first IWD clay target shoot.
The event is a doubles shoot with people of all skills welcome to participate.
NT Field and Game spokesman Bart Irwin said there would be people on hand to teach people how to shoot as well as guns for hire.
“We have a good contingent of ladies coming down to shoot clay targets and it might encourage others to come have a crack as well,” he said.
He said it was a sport that was equal between men and women. Shooter Daisy Andrews will be competing alongside her fiance Ricky Crawford. She said over the eight years she’d been a member she’d noticed a steady increase in ladies joining the sport.
