Casuarina Beach named in Australia’s official top 10 beaches for 2024

A Northern Territory beach that has long wowed tourists and locals alike has been named as one of the official top 10 Australian beaches for 2024.

Casuarina Beach has been named as one of the top 10 best beaches in the country for 2024, from a pool of almost 12,000 contenders from across the mainland and surrounding islands.

The Top End tourist hot spot which spans from Rapid Creek and Lee Point was named in beach expert Brad Famer’s carefully curated list.

Squeaky Beach topped the list, becoming the first Victorian beach to claim the coveted ‘Best Australian Beach’ title beating The Farm in New South Wales.

While Casuarina Beach rounded out the top 10 alongside beaches such as Cow Bay from Queensland and Long Beach from South Australia.

The list of best beaches is known across the country, and internationally, and plays a major role in tourists choosing where to travel to.

“That’s why I take the chance to uncover some of the destinations that might not be well-known, but are home to some of Australia’s, in my opinion, best beaches,” Mr Farmer said.

“The year’s list includes at least one beach from each state, the Northern Territory and even an Australian external territory, but for the search for best beaches extends far and wide.”

Tourism NT executive director of marketing Tony Quarmby said he was “excited, but not surprised” to see Casuarina Beach among the best in Australia.

“In fact we believe we should have more in the top 10,” he said.

“After all where else can you get the mixture of pristine and untouched remote beaches, beaches with sunset views over the water, easily accessible uncrowded beaches, and beaches with the best sunset markets?

“No matter what day of the week or month of the year the NT beaches will be warm, welcoming, family friendly locations to relax on after a day of sightseeing and adventure.”
