NT Police arrest 18-year-old allegedly involved in mass Darwin street brawl

An 18-year-old has been arrested after he allegedly brought a rifle to a street brawl which cops say involved up to 20 people. LATEST.

A man has been charged after a large brawl involving 20 people broke out in a northern Darwin suburb, with some alleged to have been armed with machetes and a rifle.

Emergency services received multiple reports of the disturbance on Union Tce in Anula about 8pm Tuesday.

Some were alleged to be in possession of machetes, while one was said to be wielding a rifle.

When NT Police arrived, they said the group quickly dispersed on foot.

Police tracked one person of interest to a home on Elsinore Ct, where they arrested an 18-year-old man without incident.

A stolen air rifle was seized there.

The young man has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of pointing a firearm at a person, going armed in public, trespassing and possess schedule two less than trafficable drug

His other charges include unlawfully possessing property, possessing a firearm without a licence, possessing a prohibited firearm and failing to meet storage requirements.

The man remains in police custody and is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court at a date not specified by NT Police.

NT couple allegedly crash into parked cars after stealing steaks

August 14: NT Police have called for witnesses after a man and woman were spotted allegedly stealing packets of chuck steak from a Palmerston Shopping Centre.

The pair entered the shopping centre on Temple Tce about 11am on August 6, when they took the packets from the refrigeration section.

The man, wearing a Mongols motorcycle gang shirt, was captured running from the store with the woman into the carpark near the grocery click and collect area.

Police said they then got into their silver Holden Commodore station wagon and drove out of the carpark, during which they allegedly hit two stationary vehicles.

No injuries have been reported to police.

Police are interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed the theft of the chuck steak or collisions in the carpark.

Man allegedly threatens security with edged weapon during robbery

NT Police have arrested a 48-year-old man after he allegedly threatened a security guard with an edged weapon as he stole alcohol.

The Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of the man allegedly stealing from a takeaway alcohol premises on Mitchell St about 6pm Monday.

Security at the location approached the alleged offender, however he allegedly threatened the guard with an edged weapon before fleeing with the stolen alcohol.

General duties officers attended and began investigations soon after.

CCTV operators were able to successfully track the man to a residence on Smith Street.

Police members apprehended the man at the location without further incident.

The man has been charged with aggravated robbery and shoplifting, and is expected to appear in court on August 19.

Man allegedly steals car after threatening woman

NT Police are calling for information following a stealing with violence incident that took place in Coconut Grove this week.

The Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports a youth allegedly threatened a woman with an edged weapon on Progress Drive about 9.10pm, Tuesday.

The victim fled the scene, however the man is alleged to have chased after her, causing her to drop her handbag of personal items.

The 43-year-old victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.

As police took her witness statement, she identified a red Suzuki Swift driving past at the time as allegedly belonging to her.

Police followed the vehicle and found it abandoned in Litchfield Court in Nightcliff, with the alleged offender still not found.

A crime scene was established, and police investigations are ongoing.

Police are also investigating a number of burglaries that occurred overnight around Easther and Craig Crescent, Coconut Grove, in which small items were reported stolen.

It is unknown at this stage if the incidents are linked.

Bus driver taken to hospital after road collision

August 13: Investigations have begun into a road collision between a public bus and a car on Trower Road in Rapid Creek.

Emergency services responded to the incident just after 3pm, Tuesday.

Multiple emergency vehicles were spotted at the scene including ambulances and fire engines.

Initial police reports indicated the bus was empty, with the exception of the driver.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injures and was taken to hospital for further treatment following the crash.

The driver of the car was also taken to hospital for assessment.

Investigations remain ongoing.
