Northern Territory travellers are the friendliest holidayers in Australia, new research has discovered.
Commissioned by BIG4 Holiday Parks, the survey asked travellers whether they would say hello to fellow caravan park residents.
The data showed 100 per cent of Territorians would greet other guests when passing them, compared to 90 per cent of all people who responded.
BIG4 Hidden Valley Park Manager Dani Walter said this finding was no surprise to her.
“It encompasses our general nature and how easy going we are up here,” she said.
“We class our park as one big happy family — Everywhere you go you’ll get a smile and a wave.”
She said there was something about holidaying in the NT that kept people coming back year after year.
“We have people that come up every single year who spend a few months every year here,” she said.
“It’s mostly Victorian and New South Wales residents who come to get away from their cold winter.”
And what is it about Territorians that makes them so naturally friendly to other travellers?
“The beer,” Ms Walter jokes.
“It’s gotta be the weather.”
The research also found that people who have stayed at holiday parks in the past five years were 50 per cent more likely to uncover romance while on a vacation.
