If you’ve seen a giant seagull in the Darwin CBD this week, never fear – you’re not going crazy, they’re actually there.
The pair of big gulls, created by Snuff Puppets, have flown into town for the Darwin Festival, so consider this your reminder to keep an eye on your food.
They’ve been squawking their way through Festival Park, and even causing a ruckus around the Waterfront, catching people off guard and fighting over the delicious food options on offer.
But on August 16 they will be migrating across the Berrimah Line to join in on the fun at the Palmerston Family Fiesta from 5-9pm.
There will be live music for kids, dancing, market stalls and even a silent disco set up in Goyder Square, and it’s all free, just beware the occasion swoop from the big bird.
Then on Saturday and Sunday, they’ll be flying out to join their mates on Stokes Hill Wharf between 5-8pm – just in time to help themselves to unsuspecting locals’ chip dinners.
