BEAVER Brewery has thrown open the doors of its Coconut Grove beer factory to the public

Owner Chris Brown has been working for 13 months to get the cellar door open, previously their cold thirst quenching ales could only be purchased at local bars and pubs around Darwin.

He said it was exciting to finally see the cellar door open to the public.

The brewery is set up in an old mechanic’s shed in Coconut Grove.

Mr Brown said he tried to retain the old school charm of the venue.

“It’s really not like anything there is in Darwin it’s like walking into your grandad’s shed,” he said.

Mr Brown said people would be able to down a beer while taking in the machinery used to brew their cold one.

They are not yet doing tours of the working side of the brewery but hope to one day, if the demand is there.

As well as offering up their core range of beers they will also have excusive brews sold only at the cellar door.

They will be pouring the Ali May ginger beer — a traditional beer infused with ground and fresh ginger.

They will also be pouring their 10th pale ale which is the tenth beer that we’ve brewed at the site.

The cellar door will be open fortnightly on a Friday from 5pm to 10pm with a different food truck each time.
