THE army is now doorknocking residents in self-isolation to ensure they are complying with the rules and making sure people are adhering to social distancing rules.
Ten army personnel have joined environmental health officers and the NT Police to conduct checks on those in isolation.
Moving from residence to residence this week, the team comprising of a police officer, environmental health officer and ADF officer undertook routine checks of residents who were under quarantine, ensuring they were home and following regulations.
Those in quarantine seemed happy enough to chat with officers about their recent travel and how they’d been doing while in quarantine over the past few days.
A spokesman from the Department of the Chief Minister said the public could be assured fines would be issued to anyone not respecting the community and doing the right thing.
The teams will also be monitoring social distancing, enforcing the public gathering limit of 10 persons, and strongly advising Territorians to observe the two-person limit where possible.
