Ambos kept busy over the weekend with dog attacks, snake bite

A teenager has suffered several broken fingers in a dog attack in one of a series of animal-related incidents — including a snake bite — over the weekend.

A TEENAGER has suffered several broken fingers after trying to break up a dog fight, in one of a series of animal related incidents over the weekend.

St John NT staff were kept busy over the weekend with two dog bites and a snake bite.

Operations manager Craig Garraway said a 60-year-old woman was bitten on the hand by a dog in Winnellie.

“This required us to take them to hospital,” he told ABC Darwin.

“There was another one on Sunday afternoon where an 18-year-old tried to break up a dog fight and ended up with a number of broken fingers.”

Additionally, a person in Jabiru was hospitalised after they were bitten by a death adder.

“The health clinic worked with us to get that person looked after and back into Darwin,” Mr Garraway said.

“I believe they are making a full recovery after that incident.”

It follows another bite from a death adder in Gove the previous weekend.
