THE Moderna vaccine has been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) and will be made available in the Territory by the end of the week.
It is the third vaccine to be approved in Australia and will be available to everyone aged 12 and above, but it will only be offered in pharmacies.
Health Minister Natasha Fyles said Territorians now had another tool in the toolbox in the fight against Covid-19 with the Moderna vaccine.
“The Territory government is embarking on a vaccine blitz over the next six weeks to get us in the best position to achieve 80 per cent full vaccination rates as soon as possible,” Ms Fyles (pictured) said.
The Moderna vaccine is free and will be available in 19 pharmacies across the Territory, including Alice Springs, Katherine, Palmerston and Darwin.
Nightcliff Amcal+ Pharmacy owner and pharmacist Lexie Innes said walk-in appointments for the jab were welcomed. “It’s certainly a bit more accessible, we can pretty much offer it on the spot so it makes it a lot easier for people,” Ms Innes said.
