ABOUT 30 Northern Territory education staff have been affected by the declaration of WA as a hot spot.

Education Minister Lauren Moss on Monday revealed that “the majority of those if not all of them” would need to isolate and get a coronavirus test.

“The Department of Education is working with any school that has been impacted by that to make sure that they’re supported obviously with teachers in the classrooms today,” Ms Moss said.

On Sunday, the NT government declared Perth and surrounding regions COVID-19 hot spots, with all travellers entering the Territory from 7.30pm on Sunday required to go into mandatory quarantine.

Ms Moss said the government had set up a travel register for teachers so if they did get caught up in a hot spot, the department knew and was able to provide support to those staff.

However, Ms Lawler said the majority of school staff and teachers would be in schools in front of kids on Monday.
