33-year-old to be charged for allegedly blowing .225 after swerving across Mitchell St

A 33-year-old man will be charged with high-range drink-driving after swerving into oncoming traffic on Mitchell St in the early hours of Saturday morning.

ONCOMING vehicles were forced to take evasive action after a 33-year-old driver allegedly swerved into the wrong lane of Mitchell St on Saturday morning.

The man, who was stopped by an undercover police vehicle, was taken into custody at around midnight.

He later allegedly blew .225, over four times the legal limit.

Police allege the Ford Ranger he was driving swerved into the wrong side of the road along the busy stretch of Mitchell St, forcing oncoming traffic to dodge him.

NT Police said on Saturday that he will be charged with driving with high-range blood alcohol content and driving in a dangerous manner.

Their investigations have been aided by an “extensive CCTV network”.

A spokesman said the incident was “quite disappointing”.
