“I am very pleased that His Royal Highness will have the opportunity to experience the traditional warmth and signature hospitality of the Territory and Territorians,” Mrs O’Halloran said.

“This visit is particularly symbolic as we celebrate the 60th year of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Australia.

“The Northern Territory was the final jurisdiction to introduce the award, which helped to ensure the Award’s success nationwide.”

Last year Prince Edward visited Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Brisbane to promote The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The last member of the British royal family to visit the Northern Territory was Prince Charles in April 2018.

Prince Edward will visit the Territory on September 16 and 17.

“It will be an honour and a great privilege to host His Royal Highness at Government House, which has welcomed several members of the Royal Family since Her Majesty The Queen acceded to the throne in 1952,” said Mrs O’Halloran.
