SOUTHERN Districts gained a big slice of redemption when they beat reigning Women’s Premier League champions Waratah in their Round 11 match at Gardens Oval.

Mattea Breed in the ruck and down back and Bella Clarke across half back were the architects of Districts’ 5.5 (35) to 3.4 (22) win.

Districts beat Tahs in the opening round of the season, but lost on a technicality when it was found their team sheets were incorrect.

“The word redemption definitely comes to mind,’’ an ecstatic Districts coach Tarmon Elliott told the NT News.

“We’ve been playing good football all season and with that comes a lot of confidence which you can see throughout the playing group.’’

The Crocodiles kept Tahs scoreless in the second and last quarters, a rare feat against the side that has dominated women’s football in the last decade.

Palmerston had plenty of good contributors in its 39-point win over PINT in their afternoon clash at TIO Stadium.

Natasha Medbury and Arthurina Moreen booted three goals, while Tabitha May and Billie Byers picked up numerous possessions for the Pies.

Former captain and Gwynne medallist Lucy Louis was superb through the middle in her return to the playing arena and Dominique Carbone equally effective in the Buffettes’ 33-point win over Tracy Village.

Wanderers showed they are a force to be reckoned with by beating Nightcliff by 16 points in Saturday’s twilight game at TIO Stadium.

Tishara Davern and Sophia Mauboy were the best for the Eagles, who jumped over PINT to grab fifth position in the WPL ladder.

St Mary’s beat the Big River Hawks by 83 points at TIO Stadium, with the Hawks’ five goals the best return for them in their debut season.
