SIMON Lavers and Udara Weerasinghe have etched their names in the history of Darwin district cricket.
Lavers became PINT Cricket Club’s highest run scorer and one of the highest in district cricket when he reached 8243 runs in his 13-season career with the club.
Weerasinghe grabbed his 300th wicket against Palmerston when he had Matt Robertson stumped in their Round 7 match.
“It’s something to recognise in the game after 10 years up here playing cricket,’’ he said.
“I still have the control and seem to be bowling OK at this level, I hope it continues.’’
Lavers said chasing a legendary batsman like Ralph Wiesse down for the title of highest ever was a tough task.
“My batting is not as good as it was when I was younger,’’ Lavers said.
“But the positive is the ball seems to go along the ground a lot more, which is good.
“We’ve got a nice solid line-up at PINT that should see us going places.this year.’
