NIGHTCLIFF’S 2018-19 coaching team will remain intact after senior coach Chris
Baksh and assistant Cameron Ilett were locked in until the end of next season.
The Tigers will finish NTFL minor premiers if they can beat reigning premier Southern Districts at home tomorrow.
The Baksh-Ilett team took them to the preliminary final last season and they are geared to at least make the grand final this time around in pursuit of a frustrating 54-year premiership drought at senior level.
Nightcliff president Jeff Borella said the bold move by his club to reappoint both men eight months out from the start of the 2019-20 season showed the faith and commitment they had in their coaching team.
“Our committee is very happy with the direction their leadership is taking us,’’ Borella said.
“We are very excited about the upcoming finals campaign and our future development of juniors moving forward.”
Baksh said the “real faith’’ shown by the Tigers in what Ilett and him had set out to do at Nightcliff was a real confidence booster.
“It gives us real stability on the eve of our battle for top spot on Saturday and then on
to the finals campaign,” he added.
Ilett expressed his thanks and that of Baksh to everyone at Tigerland.
“The sponsors, administration, coaches and volunteers and in particular, I would like to thank
the players for welcoming my family and me to their club,” he said.
