Nellie Ryan would like to consider herself a “pretty well-adjusted person” ready to take on love and reality TV.
The Austins Ferry local known for her time on the stand-up comedy scene in Tasmania has decided that after many dating disasters and bad Tinder swipes, she’s ready to look for love as part of season 2 of the dating series Love Triangle.
When asked what appealed to her about reality TV love shows, Nellie joked about dating two men “under contract” so they can’t leave.
“In seriousness, I’m really not sure what motivated me,” she said.
“When the producers told me about it, the idea of putting myself out there really put me off, but life’s short so, why not.”
Eternally the jokester and a self-confessed ‘people-pleaser’, Nellie said the show was a surprisingly reflective experience.
“The first day I broke down crying and the experience really makes you think about who you are and what you want,” she said.
“It felt like I had been there for years.
“I learnt that I really need to calm myself and not needing to always have a joke and be ready to perform – even though I’m bothered when I don’t have one.”
Nellie promises the season will be “intense”, and viewers are guaranteed a good watch for the second production of the popular show, Nellie is sure to become the next Tasmania sweetheart on the screen.
“I hope Tasmania is not too upset with me for the show,” she said.
“I’ve had so many castmates interested in the state and have to explain that it’s actually a great place to live despite their weird thoughts.
“One even asked if they needed a passport to get here.”
Love Triangle premieres with a double episode on October 5 on Stan.
