QLD NSW border closure: Bulletin readers call for reopening

Bulletin readers have had their say on the ongoing border closure with NSW, with a majority backing calls from theme park bosses for Queensland to be reopened.

Border closures dominate fiery debate between Qld leaders at People’s Forum

BULLETIN readers have backed calls by Village Roadshow Chief Operating Officer Bikash Randhawa for the Queensland border to NSW to be reopened.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is to make a statement on the sunshine state’s hard border with NSW on Friday, just a day before Queensland’s election.

Mr Randhawa last night said thousands of jobs were at stake if the border is not reopened.

“Either this or we are dead,” he said.

WHO WON FIERY LEADERS’ DEBATE

Mr Randhawa’s comments met with overwhelming support from Gold Coast Bulletin readers on social media this morning.

“Totally agree,” wrote Garrelle King. “Open the borders now.”

Trish Crossan also called for the borders to be reopened.

“This whole thing is a joke,” she wrote. “Open up the borders so our great country can get back to normal.

“The government need a much better system to contact trace not just shut the borders, this (COVID-19) isn’t going anywhere in a hurry.”

Kylie Suisala said the situation facing the theme parks was “very sad” and the borders had been closed for “way too long”.
