Trevor Hill, who runs the Bruce’s Meat chain including the bustling Mitcham store in South Australia’s most marginal seat, Boothby, which is held by the retiring Liberals member Nicolle Flint by 1.3 per cent, has created his own Ballot Banger ahead of polling day.

The special snag is the epitome of the democracy sausage – the snack reward synonymous with the satisfaction of casting your vote on election day after weeks of listening to pollies selling their pitch.

Mr Hill said his inspiration for his ScoMo Snag (parmi and pepper flavoured) was because he felt the Prime Minister needed to “pepper it up to get back on track”.

And the chicken, lemon and pepper snag in honour of the Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese was because “Albo can be a bit of a lemon”.

“Voters love a good snag at the polling booth because it’s quick, easy and after standing in line and using a lot of brainpower to cast a vote, there’s nothing better,” Mr Hill said.

“As a small-business owner my greatest fear is Aussies falling into the trap of listening to the campaign promise, but not understanding if it’s achievable.”

It comes as the most coveted prize in federal politics is unveiled today and it’s not the keys to The Lodge.

The inaugural SuperVoter Golden Sausage trophy was revealed on Wednesday by News Corp columnist Joe Hildebrand at award-winning Chop Butchery in Australia’s most marginal electorate of Macquarie in the Hawkesbury region.

SuperVoter is a national competition encouraging Australians to tip the outcome of the upcoming election.

Already thousands of everyday Australian voters from across the country have lodged their SuperVoter predictions in a bid to prove their political prowess.
