Pauline Hanson at risk of losing Senate seat

Senator Pauline Hanson remains in the fight of her political life as LNP Senator Amanda Stoker noses ahead in the battle for the final Senate spot.

The LNP’s provisional quota for the Senate vote edged fractionally ahead of One Nation’s vote on Thursday, with the result hanging on a knife edge.

Insiders say it will come down to preferences, specifically how many United Australian Party and Liberal Democrat voters followed how-to-vote cards.

If enough deviated from the how-to-votes to preference the LNP instead of One Nation, Senator Stoker could still succeed at Senator Hanson’s expense.

It remains to close to call and is coming down to the wire.

The LNP has already secured two Senate spots, with the re-election of Senators James McGrath and Matt Canavan, with enough of a quota left over to put it in contest with One Nation.

Senator Hanson had been in front in the quota for much of the count so far.

Labor secured two Senate spots, while the Greens secured one as well.
