Is Labor destined for election success largely because of the Coalition’s campaign fumbles?
Many seem to think so, as Anthony Albanese firms for re-election on May 3 – in part due to the Opposition Leader’s muddled campaign planning.
Political reporter James Campbell revealed how then high-flying LNP in December last year were meant to outline their priorities for the looming election.
Instead they got a 12-point plan, prompting one insider to suggest “if you’ve got 12 of them it’s not priorities is it? Three or four are priorities – 12 is a shopping list.”
“The intervening months have seen the Coalition’s lead disappear, to be replaced by a polling deficit it has only days to reverse,” Campell wrote.
So what has gone wrong?
“Coalition insiders also know their predicament has also been caused by a failure to make the most of the momentum they had at Christmas which has been compounded by mistakes in the campaign,” Campbell wrote.
Readers were quick to pile into the topic, with many blaming Mr Dutton’s poor leadership for the downfall.
Others, though, insist it’s still not too late to win the election, while some simply pleaded for voters to dodge Labor at all costs.

Please, no more Labor

Interesting how people are so fickle and silly. Power bills through the roof, immigration out of control driving up housing prices etc … yet they will probably be voted in again. Now all this talk again about The Voice. Talk about getting the government you deserve.
Robert
If You want A Continuing COL crisis a terrible Standard of Living still high interest rates A Hosuing crisis Record Taxes Record High Energy prices A Divided country then You Vote Labor … If want a return to normality of 3yrs Ago You vote LNP

A drowning person’s main desperation is that someone will come along and get him out of the water, not whether the rescuer is a good swimmer. We are drowning in Albo’s and his government’s lies and incompetence, we are desperate to get out of this mess and destruction.
Paulie
The electorate must have a remarkably short memory. Albo introduction of Voice divided Australia in a despicable way and branded the majority of Aussies as racist. I dread what Labor’s Trojan horse will launch into our lives this time. Mrs P

Can’t wait for the VOICE to be reincarnated in another form by a re- elected labor government, cannot believe anything Albo says, just wait. Nora’s Dale

I am hoping that this is just another media beat up, surely the voting public are not going to go through another 3 years of being lied too
Gino
Albanese lied to us from the get go and continues to do so, for anyone e to say that they don’t trust Dutton I would ask them so, you trust Albanese then?
Claudia
If Labor gets back in, all it show is that Australians are gullible fools who seem to care little about the futures of their children and grandchildren.
Maggie
Labour has been treating all Australian’s like they are fools. Looks like we are, if by now we cannot see past the lies. My heart goes out to all the small business.
It’s all too late
John
Just accept, Dutton is on the nose, no one except those rusted on Liberal voters, accept reality.
Peter
Yet again the ineptitude of the LNP is on show. The Labour Party are campaigning machines and even they would admit defeat seemed certain but we have the LNP snatching defeat from the Jaws of victory, how out of touch can a party be

There biggest error was moving on Turnbull. You win don’t win elections in compsolsury voting countries by being from the hard left or the hard right, elections are won from the centre left or centre right. If Turnbull was PM all those smart Teal women would be liberal candidates and they would be a progressive party in Government. Currently they all look a relic from yesteryear too busy talking to Sky News and 2GB only.
Zadok
Dutton was never going to be a PM and they must know it. That’s why the lack of energy. Need some new blood.
Jill
Simply, the Coalition has no substance to their policies. There is no future view, except for nuclear and that’s turned into a poison chalice! Jon

This has been a genuinely embarrassment of a campaign. It’s extraordinary how far the one great Liberal Party has fallen. What are they left with? Dutton, Angus Taylor and Susan Ley? Good grief.
