Ex-wife of accused Hawi gunman charged in $14 million drug bust

Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu, accused of killing Comanchero boss Mick Hawi, and his ex-wife Monique Nazlioglu, are facing charges over separate major alleged underworld conspiracies.

Once husband and wife, Yusuf and Monique Nazlioglu have found themselves charged over major — and completely separate — alleged underworld conspiracies.

Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf is accused of killing Comanchero boss Mick Hawi with a volley of gunshots through the window of Hawi’s Mercedes 4WD in February 2018.

Now The Daily Telegraph can reveal his ex-wife Monique is one of four people charged over an alleged $14 million drug supply syndicate.

The pair, who split in 2016, both deny the separate charges against them and are due to face trials.

There’s no suggestion that there is any link between the charges against the pair.

Tactical police from the Wetherill Park Regional Enforcement Squad bashed in the front door of 33-year-old Monique’s Bankstown apartment on February 21, 2019, almost a year to the day after her ex-husband is accused of killing Hawi.

A statement of alleged police facts in Monique’s case said officers found a set of keys in the kitchen which opened a safe inside a locked bedroom.

More than 4kg of methamphetamine, almost 1kg of cocaine, $124,550 cash and a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol were allegedly seized from the bedroom and the safe.

Ms Nazlioglu was not home at the time. Police called her in for questioning and laid 10 charges including large commercial drug supply, running a drug premises and the unauthorised possession of a firearm.

Defence solicitor Fadi Abbas successfully argued for bail in the NSW Supreme Court in November 2019.

“She instructed me to fight the charges. I’ll take the matter to trial and these charges will be defended,” Mr Abbas told The Telegraph.

The raid on Monique’s flat came two days after co-accused Mohammed Libdy, 27, and Omar Sbat, 29, were stopped in a car at Greenacre by police who allegedly found $4200 cash inside. A short time later police searched a home at South Hurstville, allegedly revealing a sawn-off double barrel shotgun and more than $150,000 cash.

More raids were carried out in Bass Hill, Condell Park and Revesby and police announced in April 2019 they had seized a total of 11 firearms, more than 600 rounds of ammunition, more than $600,000 cash and drugs with an estimated overall street value of about $14 million.

Lidby was charged with a string of offences including drug supply and Sbat was charged with directing a criminal group and proceeds of crime offences.

A fourth co-accused Kevin Libdy, 52, was charged with dealing with proceeds of crime and firearms offences.

All four are due to front Burwood Local Court next on May 20.

Yusuf Nazlioglu and his co-accused Ahamd Doudar have each pleaded not guilty to murder and are set to begin a 40-day Supreme Court trial on July 27.

Doudar has been accused of co-ordinating the hit, carried out in broad daylight on February 15, 2018, as Hawi was getting back in his car after a workout at Rockdale Fitness First.
