A HIKER has been winched from Walshs Pyramid while a fire is burning at the mountain.
Ambulance rushed to the base of the mountain just before 1pm on Sunday after reports a woman in her 20s experienced a medical episode about halfway up the 922m site.
A spokesman said a rescue helicopter also attended and winched her to Cairns Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
“The ground crew was on its way up but in the end weren’t needed,” he said.
“The scene’s now cleared”.
In 2019, two hikers had a New Year’s Day adventure they’ll never forget by becoming stuck near the summit of the mountain after one had muscle spasms.
