FOR the first time an indigenous model will take to the catwalk of London’s Pacific Fashion Week to represent an Australian Aboriginal fashion collection.
Cairns resident Benita Williams, 28, has been chosen to model a line created by Cairns fashion house Jarawee.
“I couldn’t stop smiling when I got the news about Jarawee being invited to LPFW. I was so happy for the designer Briana Enoch, and then she asked if I would go with her and I almost had a heart attack,” she said.
“I’ve dreamed of modelling internationally, but I had responsibility of caring for my three-year-old nephew. Now that he’s back in his mother’s care, I can finally travel.” LPFW begins on September 11.
