ONE of the Gold Coast’s favourite breweries is set to triple in size.
Currumbin’s Balter Brewing Company has announced on social media it will grow from 1100 square metres to a massive 3300 square metres over the next seven weeks.
“So lately we’ve been digging heaps of holes and driving trucks and stuff. This is because we’re doing a pretty hefty upgrade on the brewery,” the brewery announced on Facebook.
“It’s a massive undertaking that’s set to be finished on September 1st.”
The brewery said upgrades would include raising the roof from 6m to 10m and installing four new 30,000 litre tanks “to help us not run out of beer this summer (ya thirsty mob)”.
The brewery said the work has been happening while they continue to supply beer around the country.
“We can’t wait to show you the finished product, in the meantime here’s some nice looking drawings and a coupla photo’s,” the announcement said.
It’s the latest sign the business part-owned by champion surfers Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Josh Kerr and Bede Durbidge is going from strength to strength.
In January the brewery’s Balter XPA — an extra pale ale — topped the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2017.
