Victoria has taken out the top spot for Australia’s largest lotto wins for the sixth year in a row.

The Victorian tally included a staggering $80 million win for a North Melbourne cleaner, who scooped the highest division one prize with a Powerball entry ticket — the state’s biggest-ever lottery win.

A South Melbourne couple scooped a whopping $60 million from a division one Powerball entry sold at their local newsagent.

New data from The Lott and Lotterywest has revealed where the nation’s luckiest Lotto hot spots and postcodes are, including the suburbs in each state and territory where the most division one winning entries are sold.

Across Australia, a total of 376 millionaires were created by division one wins – the equivalent of more than one every day of the year.

NSW and the ACT can still boast the most lottery millionaires – with 109 millionaires created from life-changing division one wins. Victoria came second, with 97 lottery fans gaining millionaire status and Queensland came third with 82.

The data, taken July 1, 2021 and June 20, 2022, covers all games including Powerball, Oz Lotto, Tattslotto, Set for Life and Lotto.

Victoria finished the financial year on a high, taking out the top spot for the most major prizes and division one money won, with 153 division one winning entries that reaped more than $467 million in prize money for the lucky winners.

New South Wales and the ACT were not too far behind with 141 division one wins collecting $464.8 million in prize money.

The new data also revealed the postcodes that boasted the most winners.

In Victoria, the postcode of 3199 for Frankston sold four division one winning entries, totalling $4.6 million.

South Melbourne (3205) had three division one wins totalling a whopping $63.8 million. The biggest individual prize — $60 million —was a Powerball entry sold at Market Lotto & News in South Melbourne.

In New South Wales and the ACT, the postcode of 2444 for Port Macquarie sold three division one winning entries, totally $3.8 million.

In Queensland, the postcodes of 4670 for Bundaberg/North Bundaberg and 4740 for Rural View / Slade Point each sold three division one winning entries, racking up $3.4 million.

In Tasmania, the postcode of 7250 for Launceston/Newstead sold two division one winning entries with a total of $1.4 million.

In the Northern Territory, the postcode of 0828 for Berrimah delivered the Northern Territory’s division one biggest prize — worth $1.8 million — from an in-store ticket.

The Lott spokesperson James Eddy said the results showed big wins could occur anywhere at any time.

“As Australia’s big lottery winners from the past 12 months found themselves emerging from the tribulations of pandemic restrictions, they shared different and unique ways they hoped to revel in their incredible division one wins,” he said.

“We heard from winners who were ready to embark on their first-ever overseas trip since the peak of the pandemic, those who couldn’t wait to share their windfalls with their friends and families, and one winner who even enjoyed a helicopter pub crawl across Darwin with her family.”

This weekend is Saturday Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw – the biggest offer of any Australian lottery game at the moment.
