An Aussie surfer has been found dead on a Kuta beach in Bali.
Father of two Taras Mulik, 50, was found non-responsive near a cliff on Kuta’s Suluban beach on Monday.
Mr Mulik’s body was discovered by local surfers.
Balinese lifeguard Wayan Somer, who was among the men who found the body, said Mr Mulik lived near the Suluban beach for at least a year and was known among locals.
“When we found the victim. He was wearing shorts and no shirt. His nose was bleeding and his chest was bruised,” Mr Somer said.
The group did not approach the body and waited for officers from the coronavirus response team to arrive, since Bali had entered another full lockdown.
“I didn’t dare to evacuate the body or even approach him. We waited for officers from the
COVID task force to come lead the process of evacuation,” Mr Somer said.
Denpasar police spokesperson Ketut Sukadi confirmed the discovery of the Australian man’s body.
“On Monday at 8.45am, a man was found dead on the beach of Suluban, South Kuta. The man is Taras Mulik from Perth, Australia,” Mr Sukadi said.
Police said Mr Mulik’s body was attended by ambulance paramedics and declared dead on the beach.
“The victim’s body was then evacuated to Sanglah hospital in Denpasar for further investigation into his cause of his death,” Mr Sukadi said.
