A FLIGHT from Wuhan transporting coronavirus evacuees is expected to land in Darwin about 11.30 this morning.
The Qantas plane’s departure had been delayed because official clearance for the flight had not been secured, leaving it stranded in Hong Kong while more than 200 Australians were left waiting at Wuhan Airport.
The flight is expected to land at Darwin airport before passengers disembark through the RAAF base and are transported by bus to the Manigurr-Ma work camp Howard Springs.
Evacuees were initially expected to be quarantined on Christmas Island, before a decision was made on Friday to bring them to the former Inpex workers site, which has 875 accommodation Units including 3500 bedrooms with ensuites.
