According to the BoM, a monsoon trough is forming across the northern Gulf of Carpentaria and the Top End following the development of a low about 120km east of Nhulunbuy on Sunday morning.
The low is expected to continue to develop as it moves slowly east or southeast through the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The likelihood of a tropical cyclone in the Northern Region on Monday is very low, low on Tuesday before becoming “moderate”, or a 20 to 50 per cent chance, on Wednesday.
