A man has been charged over an alleged road rage incident in Coolalinga.
It comes after a video of the alleged assault widely circulated on social media.
The vision shows two people beside the driver’s window of a dark grey Commodore stopped at traffic lights on the Stuart Highway, about 1pm Saturday.
The driver, 21-year-old Millner resident Jayden Kearney, can then be seen raising his palm in defence.
His partner Brie’Staria Radovanovich said the pair was not known to Mr Kearney.
“My partner has been left with a fractured jaw and eye socket, a crooked nose, chipped teeth and split lips,” she said.
“After … he couldn’t see out of his right eye at all.
“He received medical care at Royal Darwin Hospital (on Saturday), and has to go to the eye clinic to see if he needs plates put in.”
Ms Radovanovich said she and Mr Kearney welcomed a newborn just one week ago.
He was driving alone at the time of the incident.
“We don’t know how much (the medical bills are) going to cost as of yet,” Ms Radovanovich said.
“His anxiety has gotten worse, he can’t properly sleep, he’s afraid to stop at red lights.”
Police confirmed on Tuesday that a 57-year-old man had been issued a notice to appear for aggravated assault.
He is due to appear in court on February 8.
A police spokesman said inquiries were continuing.
