A two-vehicle crash that left a motorcyclist fighting for life has caused chaos on an already congested Pacific Mwy.

The crash happened just before midday on Helensvale Rd, Helensvale.

It led to gridlock southbound on the M1, with one motorist saying it took him “about an hour to travel 3km”.

“It’s chaos,” he said.

“There’s major congestion from Coomera to Helensvale with school holiday crowds struggling to get into Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild.”

The injured motorbike rider was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening head and chest injuries.

Another motorcycle crash happened on Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd in the Numinbah Valley about 12.30pm.

Paramedics were assessing a stable patient with leg injuries following the incident.
