BASSINTHEGRASS, the Northern Territory’s premier music festival, is set to return with a stellar lineup this May.
At a promotional event at Raintree park on Thursday, rising artist Hope Defteros, known by stage name Hope D, made waves with her debut in Darwin.
“Super excited to be here...it’s my first time in Darwin,” she said.
The artist said being in the city ahead of the festival “feels kinda like a holiday”.
The artist previewed a medley of her popular tracks along with a teaser of her new single, Turkish Delight, set for release later this year.
“I’m excited for a great line up,” she said.
She noted her previous collaborations with fellow performers, and confessed to being a “huge fan of Meg Mac”.
As for what she had planned for the rest of her first visit, Hope D said she wanted to sample some delicious Darwin laksa.
DJ Yola Dewi played a vibrant set as an opener for Hope D at the event.
Minister for Major Events Marie-Clare Boothby said despite trouble for other music festivals areound the country here “in the territory we’ve been able to keep BASSINTHEGRASS going”.
With early bird tickets already sold out, Ms Boothby said she was confident the festival would draw thousands from across the Territory and Australia.
