HAYDAYS 2023: Hobart artist Hugo Bladel to bring club energy to festival as Juice Monsoon

A Hobart artist best known for his pop sounds will turn up the heat at HAYDAYS by unleashing his alter-ego – promising to churn out tunes that will make it impossible for crowds to stay off the dancefloor.

The hottest party of the summer, the HAYDAYS Festival, is set to make the Hobart ground shake with the big sounds and bright lights of the Aussie music festival scene.

Against the idyllic backdrop of kunanyi/Mount Wellington and the bay, HAYDAYS has secured some of Australia’s most loved acts to perform – despite only being in its first year of operation.

Festival-goers will dig out their brightest, sparkliest and most colourful get-up for the two-day event, running from December 27-28 in Cornelian Bay.

From the same organisers as the much-loved Party in the Paddock festival, HAYDAYS will feature headlining acts of the likes of electro-pop sensation PNAU and indie-rock and dance-punk group Foals.

Other popular acts in the mix include Confidence Man, Cub Sport, Genesis Owusu, Lastlings and The Jungle Giants – all Aussie musical groups who have made their names both on home soil and internationally.

Tassie-grown talent will also appear on the HAYDAYS setlist.

Amid the line-up will be Hobart artist Hugo Bladel, performing his new project ‘Juice Monsoon’ – a groovy dance act boasting “jungle tropical vibes” that are “perfect for the silly season and people wanting a dance”.

Bladel is known around Hobart for his dulcet busking tones, as well as providing acoustic music and DJ sets at weddings and corporate gigs, but he said Juice Monsoon is his new high-energy and dance party alter ego.

“After spending some really significant time overseas in India, I came to realise that my purpose in music is to unite and bring people together, and I’m really excited to do that through Juice Monsoon,” Bladel said.

“My past work has been more pop-based, whereas Juice Monsoon is more about the dance floor and has more of a club-like energy to it – I just want to make people dance.

“HAYDAYS is going to be so fantastic, I’m so excited and honoured to be in a line-up with some of Australia’s most loved performers, some of whom are actually old friends.

“Coming back home to Hobart for this has been really great, it’s so nice to be back in the area – especially playing music for the locals and doing what I love the most.”

Bladel will be performing at 1pm on December 27, bringing energy to the stage with a mix of live and pre-mixed beats – as well as live dancers from Eternal Dance joining him onstage.

“It’s going to be such a great festival and there are still some tickets available, so I encourage everyone to come down and cheek it out, have a dance and just soak up the atmosphere.”

Tickets for one or both days of the festival are still available, as well as camping packages on offer for those wanting to boogie til the sun comes up.
