Guy Darcy committed to NT Supreme Court for allegedly raping woman

A man accused of raping a woman in the carpark of a Darwin shopping centre is heading to the Northern Territory’s highest court.
On April 2, Guy Darcy, 54, appeared in Darwin Local Court via video link charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
Police say that at about 1.40am on December 14, 2024, CCTV operators witnessed a woman, sleeping in the carpark of a shopping complex, allegedly being raped.
The operators alerted police officers to the scene, who arrested Mr Darcy.
The victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for a medical assessment.
Mr Darcy was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and has been in remand since.
At a preliminary examination on Wednesday, the prosecution said there was “crucial evidence” captured on CCTV footage which allegedly showed Mr Darcy raping the woman.
“It’s quite graphic,” the prosecutor warned.
Judge Tanya Fong Lim closed the courtroom before the footage was reviewed before the court.
It was later confirmed Mr Darcy had been committed to the Supreme Court by Judge Fong Lim.
Mr Darcy will next appear on May 5 for a criminal call-over.
