Top five dog groomers on the Gold Coast: Hollywoof Pet Spa named the best in the city

A luxurious pet spa has been named the best dog groomer on the Gold Coast, securing 21 per cent of the Bulletin reader-voted poll. See the top five.

The Gold Coast’s biggest doggy spa has been named as the city’s best dog groomer.

Hollywoof Pet Spa secured 21 per cent of a poll of Bulletin readers – and it’s not the first time they’ve won either.

Owner Chris Jobsz said Hollywoof also won the Bulletin’s ‘Best dog groomer’ competition in 2021, but a lot has changed since.

“Three years ago we were building the (business), we wanted to build the biggest, greatest salon on the Gold Coast and I think we’ve really done that,” he said.

“It’s so much more than growing in the space, we went from a team of three to a team of 12, really growing the team.”
Mr Jobsz said the “Hollywoof standard” is what sets them apart from the competition.

“It really starts with treating everyone’s dog as if it’s your own, from there we get to make decisions that perhaps other salons aren’t in the position to,” he said.

“We get to spend more time with each dog. I know that there are a lot of salons that might have a quota for how many dogs each groomer has to groom, and we don’t have that.

“What we say to our groomers is to do their best work, we are a bit higher priced than some of our competitors, but with that you get the Hollywoof standard.”

Mr Jobsz said in conjunction with the flourishing salon, Hollywoof is opening their very own dog grooming academy.

“We’re predominantly teaching certificate three in dog grooming. We started that in 2024 with just some base level classes, sort of trickling some students through,” he said.

“We’ve got full enrolment for the months ahead, starting in February.

“The Hollywoof Grooming Academy is really going to allow the next generation to get in the industry and start their career in this great space that we all enjoy working in.”

Hollywoof Pet Spa offers a mixture of grooming services and doggy daycare specialising in spa treatments including blueberry facials and black salt skin coat treatments.

“We get black salt from the Dead Sea in Israel, because it’s the highest naturally occurring black salt in the world,” Mr Jobsz said.

Animal Magic in Broadbeach Water was runner-up for the Gold Coast’s best dog groomer with nine per cent of the vote, The Palmy Groomer was third with six per cent and House of Harts Per Services, Sammy Scissor Hands and Petz with Pizazz tied in fourth with five per cent of the vote.
