A one-of-a-kind futuristic superyacht custom built for the late Apple founder Steve Jobs has sailed from the Gold Coast after a near six-week visit.
The $170 million Venus superyacht, a 78 metre-long luxury vessel with six bedrooms, left the Southport Yacht Club on Friday. It had been berthed there since January 22.
It was docked next to Clive Palmer’s $40 million ‘Australia’ superyacht, overshadowing the billionaire’s vessel.
Dozens of locals eagerly waited at The Spit just to get a glance of the mega yacht as it set sail on a four-day journey.
Clearly visible to onlookers in Main Beach and Southport, the bow has a striking stainless steel finish and a minimalist exterior design with a line of rectangular windows.
Venus is now owned by billionaire laurene Powell Jobs, who inherited the boat along with other assets after the death of her husband in October 2011.
It was designed by renowned French designer Philippe Starck and even has 27 Mac computers on board for entertainment.
It’s not the first time Venus superyacht has been spotted in Australia.
Last year, the superyacht was spotted in Cairns, where it dwarfed every other boat in the harbour.
