Police have shared what happened in the moments before a three-year-old boy was taken from his Gold Coast home.
Almost 10 hours after the three-year-old boy was taken from Vine Circuit in Oxenford, police found him and his 30-year-old mother, at a property in Redland Bay.
Police issued an amber alert at 6.30am on Thursday morning after they were called to a “family violence incident” at the Oxenford home around 11.30pm on Wednesday night.
Gold Coast district detective inspector Paul Fletcher said as a result of the incident, their 70-year-old grandmother was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.
The grandmother was still in hospital at 10am on Thursday.
After the incident, the mother ran from the scene with her three-year-old child.
“Due to her actions at that residence, police were seriously concerned for the wellbeing of that child.”
Following the amber alert, a widespread search involving multiple officers and the public’s assistance, police found Ms Williams and her child in Redland Bay.
“The mother is assisting police with inquiries into that incident last night,” Mr Fletcher said.
It was understood the mother had custody of the child and was living in the Oxenford home with the grandmother.
Police are continuing their investigations into how the mother and child travelled to Redland Bay.
Investigations are ongoing.
