A Gold Coast band is giving a festival a “second chance” after it was branded a “logistic disaster” last year, leaving them to play to an empty audience while hundreds waited outside.

Spilt Milk announced they would be heading back to the Gold Coast for the second time, however changing their location from Doug Jennings Park at The Spit to Heritage Bank Stadium.

The event will headline Post Malone, Dom Dolla, Aitch and Ocean Alley on November 26.

The festival which was known for featuring homegrown talent in each of the respective locations was under fire last year due to cancelling all local musicians at the last minute.

The cancellation was due to a delay regarding safety concerns and weather.

Gold Coast band Peach Fur were the first to perform on the day at 11am, however the delays meant no one was allowed into the venue.

The group of four performed with no audience.

Festival-goer and Gold Coast local Brandon Cunningham said the whole experience was “pain staking” and that he was crushed to miss his friends’ band Peach Fur.

“With Australian music month just passing and the industry finally on the road to recovery from Covid, it was quite upsetting to see patrons come to support the music scene and the livelihoods of bands all to be thrown around at the mercy of a logistic disaster,” he said.

However, Peach Fur were asked back to the festival this year and they have said “we’re not holding any grudges”.

“It’s only human to make mistakes and I think everyone deserves a second chance as clichéd as that sounds,” they said.

“It’s also an opportunity to play with some of our favourite artists in front of a hometown crowd, so it’d be pretty hard to say no.”

The band which were known for their indie-groovy style music said they were ready to redeem their spot in the line-up.

“We’re ready to come out with a bang,” they said.

Peach Fur recently released their first album since the pandemic, which featured 17 tracks and took two years to make.

“We’ve been working on some of the songs behind closed doors for quite some time now (years) so it’ll be a rewarding feeling to play the new ones to a festival audience and see how people react,” they said.

One of the new tracks features lead drummer Michael Woodworth’s first vocal song, called ‘How Many Beers?’

He said the swinging pub rock tune was a “goer” for the festival.

“We’ve played it a couple of times now live and it’s definitely one of the highlights of the set”.

Kicks entertainment co-founder Ryan Sabet said they were excited to bring the festival back to the Coast after it generated more than $24m in economic impact for the region in 2022.

“It takes over 18 months to execute an event of this nature,” he said.

“To ensure we can accommodate the growing number of music and art lovers and facilitate the best possible experience, the Kicks Entertainment team worked tirelessly to secure a long-term home.”

Mr Sabet said they were blown away by the support from the community, businesses and council.

“Major Events Gold Coast has also provided support to ensure the event continues to grow the tourism and local business outcomes across the event’s future.”
