Gold Coast police are investigating a blaze that saw a high-rise evacuated overnight.

Emergency services were called to a commercial building fire in Coolangatta on Sunday night at around 11.40pm.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said two crews attended the McLean St scene at 11.45pm and the fire was under control by 11.50pm.

The fire was out by 12.30pm.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the affected building was a business and a neighbouring hotel had been evacuated as a precaution.

She said investigations into the cause of the blaze were ongoing.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a nearby high-rise had been evacuated. Nobody required treatment.

More to come.
