A luxury vehicle has crashed into a wall at the front of a Surfers Paradise house, causing serious damage to the car and leaving a large pile of rubble in its wake.
Emergency services were called to an address on exclusive Amalfi Drive at 9.25am on Tuesday after the dramatic smash involving a white Mercedes GLS63 worth more than $200,000.
Police, a fire crew and the Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, allegedly left the scene of the crash before being found by police at a house nearby.
He was not seriously injured in the incident but was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for assessment.
He was spoken to by police and had his licence suspended for 24 hours.
The car involved in the incident was removed by a tow truck at 10.40am.
A police spokesperson said investigations into the incident were continuing.
“Police are investigating a traffic crash that occurred at the Isle of Capri (on Tuesday),” the spokesperson said.
“At 9.30am police were called to Amalfi Drive to reports a Mercedes had crashed into a fence.
“Upon arrival police located the 44-year-old male driver at a nearby address.
“He was transported by ambulance to Gold Coast University Hospital for assessment.
“Investigations into the incident are continuing.”
