Gold Coasters have been enjoying running into visiting Hollywood A-lister Mark Wahlberg on the golf course and at a city surf club.
Gold Coast entrepreneur Drew Hankin, who grabbed a selfie with Wahlberg at The Grand Golf Club at the foot of the hinterland, said it wasn’t uncommon to see well-known business identities and sports people at the course designed by Australian golf icon Greg Norman.
“We were having a game at The Grand. I went over to say g’day to (Grand staffer) Daniel Herr and Wahlberg was with him. He came over, was an absolute gentleman, couldn’t have been more of a legend.
“Gave us his time, all chatted and had a laugh for about 10 minutes and then we played on. “He was extremely polite, asked a lot of questions about us, overall a 10/10 great guy. Didn’t see him play but the guys who played with him said he was an incredible golfer.”
Meanwhile, Wahlberg – who co-owns Wahlburgers on the Surfers Paradise beachfront - visited his neighbour in business at Surfers Paradise Surf Lifesaving Club. Whilst there he stopped for a picture with Breanna Andrews, prompting gutted local Selina MacDonald to refrain: “When your crush is next door and the whole team get a selfie but you’re a twat and miss out.”
