Police have released CCTV footage of a man wanted for questioning in relation to an alleged assault of a teenager on a G:link tram between Southport and Broadbeach last month.
In a statement, Queensland Police said two 14-year-old boys were travelling on the light rail between Southport and Broadbeach at 2.35pm on Saturday, March 22, when a man allegedly assaulted one of the boys by punching him once in the face.
The suspect decamped at Broadbeach South station. The teenager suffered pain but did not seek medical attention.
“Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, including vehicles driving in the area who may have dashcam footage, to come forward,” the statement read.
“Detectives urge the male shown in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to contact police.
“Investigations remain ongoing.”
It’s understood there was a brief verbal interaction between the teenager and the man wanted for questioning prior to the punch allegedly being thrown.
